2 John — PBE 2027 Study Guide
Truth and love, side by side.
A short personal letter from the Apostle John to 'the elect lady,' urging continued faithfulness and warning about traveling false teachers.
Overview
The Second Epistle of John is one of the shortest books in the New Testament — only 13 verses, fitting on a single sheet of ancient papyrus. The Apostle John writes to "the elect lady and her children," which most scholars understand as either a Christian woman and her family or a local church and its members. The themes echo 1 John: walk in truth, love one another, and beware of deceivers who deny that Jesus Christ came in the flesh. John urges hospitality toward true teachers and refusal to welcome those who carry false doctrine.
