Mark 16

The empty tomb, the resurrection, the Great Commission.

Very early on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome come to the tomb with spices and find the stone rolled away. A young man clothed in a white robe tells them, "He is risen! He is not here." He instructs them to tell the disciples — and Peter — that Jesus is going before them to Galilee. The longer ending of Mark records appearances to Mary Magdalene, to two disciples on a road, and to the eleven, where Jesus gives the Great Commission: "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." He promises signs that will follow believers and is taken up into heaven, where He sits at the right hand of God. The disciples go out and preach everywhere, the Lord working with them.
